One of the ways the Social Enterprise Institute is helping to fuel the growth of innovative social enterprises is through our SEI Academy. The Academy provides SEI members the opportunity to present a new social enterprise idea -- or a plan to grow an existing venture – to a panel of experienced business and social investors. The panel provides valuable feedback and coaching to each presenting organization.

Three organizations are invited back by the panel to present their revised, refined plan. The panel then selects a winning organization which will be awarded the opportunity to work with a pro bono team of seasoned business advisors to prepare a well-vetted, investment-ready business plan. Of course, everyone is a “winner” in that the work you do to prepare a presentation will unquestionably support you in moving your enterprise forward.

The Academy is offered periodically in each of the markets where we have Leadership Forums. We recruit mentors and judges from local business schools, Tech Coast Angels, Social Venture Partners and other business groups.
